Betty Jane (West) Fogelberg, age 96 of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Spencer, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018. She was born in Spencer, Indiana on December 28, 1921, the daughter of Dollie (Flint) West and Harold West.
Betty was valedictorian of her Spencer Indiana High School class, attended Stephens College, and graduated from Purdue University. She was the first female for Republic Steel’s testing laboratories during WWII. She has lived in Phoenix for the last 36 years, following raising her family in Indiana and Illinois. Betty was totally dedicated to her family…and to Purdue University basketball and football.
She was married for over 53 years to Weymouth Fogelberg, who preceded her. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ella Mae Parrish, and a daughter, Jennie Jane Fogelberg.
She is survived by a son, Harold Weymouth Fogelberg (Paula), two daughters, Ann Spencer (W. Richard III) and Mary Doll Ferguson (Marc), her grandchildren, Carrie Ann Light, Darcy Ann Copeland (David), Todd Weymouth Fogelberg (Sara), W. Richard Spencer IV (Jasmine), Grace Cook (Jason), Natalie Yount (Kyle), Ashley Doll Bontke (Jordan), and Marcus Donald Ferguson, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at West Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer, IN at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, December 2, 2018, with Dr. Diane Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30 P.M. until the time of service.
