Betty Jo Minor, 94, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN. She was born January 14, 1925 in St. Louis, MO.
Betty retired after working 35 years for the Federal Government. She spent 11 years with the VA and 24 years for the Department of Justice. Betty married Leslie W. Minor Sr. on April 14, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN. She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church, Central Indiana Boxer Club, Dalmatian Club of Greater Indianapolis, and Owen County YMCA in Spencer, IN. Betty also volunteered for the American Cancer Society.
Betty is survived by her son, Leslie "Les" Minor Jr. (Kim) of Martinsville, IN; two grandchildren, Caleb Minor of Martinsville, IN and Aubree Durnell (Tyler) of West Chester, OH; one great grandson, Ethan Brooks Durnell; and one sister-in-law Barbara Ginder of Kempton, IN.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Russell Safewright, three sons Charles, Dean and David Safewright, and 2nd husband Leslie W. Minor Sr. on February 13, 2001.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Eastview Christian Church, 2745 Old Morgantown Road Martinsville, IN; with Pastor Rick Miller officiating. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM in Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday and from 10 AM until the time of service Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
