Dorothy L. Roberts, age 89, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at her residence. She was born in Linton on November 16, 1929, the daughter of Joseph & Bertha (Gillette) Sims.
Among many jobs during her younger years, Dorothy worked at the local bus station and taxi service, where she met her husband Bill. She worked for Indiana Bell Telephone as an operator until staying home to raise her children.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, both of Linton, and Women of the Moose of Terre Haute.
Dorothy enjoyed dancing, going to French Lick, eating at the hospital cafeteria where she could visit with her friends, playing games, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Gary (Vickie) Roberts of Linton, a daughter, Marcia (Garth) Ries of Linton, three grandchildren, Troy (Kathy) Roberts of Linton, Travis (Mindy) Roberts of Brownsburg, & Ethan (Brittney) Padgett of Decatur, Illinois, & five great-grandchildren, Madison Roberts, Megan Roberts, Nolan Roberts, Gavin Roberts, and Easton Roberts, and a sister, Violet Henson of Indianapolis, and a special friend, Norman LeDune.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William "Bill" Roberts, a granddaughter, Heather Padgett, sisters, Marie Bush, Cora B. Jones, Rosemary Stough, and Carolyn Alderson, and three brothers, Roy, Jesse, & Clovis Sims.
Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, with Pat Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 P.M., and Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
