Joe E. Turner III, age 77, of Linton, passed away at 8:15 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at home. He was born in Linton, Indiana on December 13, 1941, the son of Joe Turner II & Marguriete (Hunter) Turner.
He was a graduate of Linton High School. He worked as a linotype operator right out of high school then went to work at GE for nearly 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, being out in nature, painting, old movies, ancestry and spending time in Brown County. He was an avid gun enthusiast as well.
He loved reminiscing about the trips he and Lynn used to take before she passed.
Joe is survived by his loving daughter, Sara Turner of Linton; mother-in-law, Patricia (Duncan) Gambill of Jasonville; sisters, Jill (Tom) Johnson of Jasonville and Judy (Clyde) Honchell of Greentown; brothers-in-law, Scott (Reva) Gambill of Dugger, Timothy Gambill of Jasonville and John (Leeann) Gambill of Jasonville.
He is preceded in death by the love of this life, Lynn (Gambill) Turner; his parents; niece, Jessi Gambill; great nephew, Noah Johnson and father-in-law, Jack Gambill.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am at Fairview Cemetery on Monday, October 21, 2019, with Pastor Jeff Fulk officiating.
Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 2:00-5:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greene County Humane Society or to SAFE of Linton through the funeral home.
