Lawrence C. Williams, age 94, of Freedom, passed away peacefully at 10:27 PM on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. He was born in Patricksburg on December 10, 1923, the son of Renos & Beulah (Tandy) Williams.
Lawrence was a 1942 graduate of Patricksburg High School. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in the South Pacific.
He worked at Allison's in Indianapolis during early years, retired from Rostone's in Spencer, worked as a farmer, and served as a Owen County Highway Superintendent, and served as an Owen County Commissioner.
He attended Heritage Baptist Church in Coal City. He was a life-member of the Spencer VFW. He enjoyed taking care of his home, gardening, his pets, watching westerns.
He is survived by his wife whom he married Jan. 5, 1946, Mary (Stahl) Williams of Freedom, daughter, Marcia Truax of Coal City, son, Max Williams of Fishers, grandchildren, Darin Truax of Coal City, Eric (Cindy) Truax of Coal City, Dusty (Dottie) Truax of Spencer, and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brendon, Casey, Kylee, David, Corey, and Micaela.
He was preceded his parents, a son-in-law, Dick Truax, a sister, Mabel Watson, and a brother, Carl Williams.
Funeral service will be held at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 29, 2018 with Pastor Steve Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Owen County Honor Guard in Coal City.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 PM until the time of service.
