Marie B. Huber, age 99 years, 11 months, and 16 days, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 22, 2018, at her home of seventy-seven years in Linton, just 15 days before her 100th birthday. She was born in Linton, Indiana on February 6, 1918, the daughter of Herbert & Frances (Brookshire) Bredeweg.
Marie was a 1936 graduate of Linton High School, a 1938 graduate of Indiana State Normal School in Terre Haute with an associate degree for teaching, and later a 1961 graduate of Indiana State Teachers College with her bachelor degree in teaching. She taught at Black Creek School for 2 years and 1 year at Worthington Elementary School. She then married and raised her family. She returned to teaching in 1956 as a 4th Grade teacher for 22 years and retiring in 1978. She was a true educator and friend to her students.
Marie was a life-member of the Saron United Church of Christ in Linton where she was dedicated in the church, teaching Sunday School and had sang in the choir.
She was a compassionate and generous mother to all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she was so proud of.
She is survived by her two daughters, Clara (Ruben) Harris of Sandborn and Della (Eddy) Dale of Linton, a son, Harry (Linda) Huber of Linton, five grandchildren, Dawn Kasemeier, Deanna Watson, Steven (Melissa) Dale, Stefanie (Ryan) Ball, and Kevin (Chelsea) Dale, ten great-grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law, Ella Rose Bredeweg, Gail Bredeweg, and Clara Marie Mosby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Haseman Huber on Aug. 18, 1988, one sister, Pearl Andis, two brothers, Phillip Bredeweg and Bert Bredeweg, an infant granddaughter, Annette Huber, and an infant great-grandson, Jacob Watson.
Funeral service will be held at Saron United Church of Christ in Linton at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018, with Pastor Jeff Fulk officiating. Burial will follow at German Memory Hill in Linton.
Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Saturday from 3-7 p.m. and Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
