Mary Ruth (Hutcheson) Dunigan-Morris, 80, of Greenwood, formerly of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Mary Ruth was born in Indianapolis on December 22, 1938 to Joe Wampler Hutcheson and Mable Ruth (Hochstetler) Hutcheson. She was a 1956 graduate from Spencer High School. She then graduated from the Indiana State Teachers College, and received her Masters Degree from DePauw University. Mary Ruth married her first love, Warren D. Dunigan in 1961, and had three wonderful children. After Warren passed, she married Bill Morris in 1999 and enjoyed their time together until he passed in 2015. Mary Ruth retired as a teacher from Spencer Elementary School. She grew up attending the Spencer United Methodist Church and later went to Lifeway Baptist in Ellettsville.
Mary Ruth could light up a room with her brilliant smile and boisterous laugh. She loved music and will long be remembered for the many sing-alongs she led for her students with the piano she always kept in her classroom. She could not, as she would say, "sit still". For as long as she was able, she was always on the go - shopping, traveling, and dining with her friends.
Mary Ruth is survived by her son Tom Dunigan, his daughters Kathryn and Caroline, and their mother, Sonya Dunigan; son, Andy and wife Jill Dunigan, their children Hailey and Austin; daughter, Jane and husband Rodney Smith, their children, Connor and Quinn; and Bill's daughter, Karla and husband Tom Vedder and their children, and grandchildren.
Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and infant brother, Joe Albert Hutcheson.
