Orvil Kurn “OJ” Jackson, age 70, of Spencer, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at IU Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born in Indianapolis on January 18, 1948, the son of Joseph Miller & Odie Gertrude (Jackson) Jackson.
OJ retired in 1988 from Amtrak where he worked as a safety engineer welder. He owned and operated OJ’s Custom Welding in Spencer.
He was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, wife, children, and grandchildren.
OJ is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia J. “Pat” (Miller) Jackson, two children, Belinda (Mike) Waggoner and Joey (Gena) Jackson, both of Spencer, grandchildren, Brody, Levi, Payne, Halie, & Sammy, great-grandchildren, Bentley, Khayley, & Waylon, a brother, Joe (Alice) Jackson of Indianapolis, a sister-in-law, Shirley Jackson, and a brother-in-law, Douglas Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Solomon Paul, Earl, & Morris Jackson, and two sisters, LaGrotta Doty and Evelyn Davis.
Funeral service will be held at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Burial will follow in Chambersville Cemetery in Spencer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 P.M., and Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
