On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, Mark Edward Sturgell, age 60, beloved husband, son, and father was called to his heavenly home after bravely battling an extended illness.
Pastor Sturgell was a lifelong resident of Spencer, Indiana and had faithfully tended the flock of the First Pentecostal Church since 1993, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, the late Reverend Raymond Sturgell.
Mark’s life was proof that God is still in the miracle-working business, as he exceeded many physician’s expectations by leading a successful life as a pastor, husband and father after being diagnosed with a brain tumor at the young age of 14. He was also a skilled carpenter and retired from Bloomington Hospital in 2013 after an accomplished 35-year career.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dollie (Arthur), daughters Hannah Kay and Rachel (Jeffrey) Keith, three grandchildren, Chandler, Avery, and Tyler (Keith), his parents, Edward and Lela (Cross) Sturgell, and siblings Patricia Rojas, Myria Christenberry, and Jeffrey Sturgell.
Although he will be dearly missed, we are grateful for the years we had together and the many lives he touched. We take comfort in knowing that his new heavenly body is pain free and he lived his life preparing for his eternal life with the Lord.
Funeral Service will be held at First Pentecostal Church in Spencer at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
Visitation will be held at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer on Monday, August 13 from 4-8 P.M., and Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at the church.

II Timothy 4:7-8
(7)I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (8)Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
