Pauline Louise (Poole) Johnson, 85, of Spencer, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2018. She was born in Francesville, IN to John Emory and Dora (Troxel) Poole on April 24, 1932. After graduating from Francesville High School in 1950, she moved to Indianapolis, where she spent her early twenties working as an optician. There, she met Vaughn Johnson, and they were married in the spring of 1956. The couple moved to Spencer shortly after, where she has resided since. Pauline spent the following years raising her sons, and several of those years as the owner/operator of the Med-O-Brook Motel in Spencer. She was also a founding member of Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville. Pauline loved playing the organ and painting scenes of nature. Later in life, she was a devoted grandmother, spending most of her days caring for and helping to raise her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Vaughn Johnson, her sister, Virginia Brunnemer, her sons, Alan and Stephen (Denise) Johnson, grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, Derek Johnson, Emily Fortin, Gavin Smith, and Gage Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ivan, Ira, and Jack Poole, and one sister, Helen May.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, March 3, 2018 at the Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville, Indiana. Pastor Steve Von Bokern will officiate. Entombment will follow in Chambersville Cemetery.
