On Friday, September 27, 2019, Robert Samuel Kernodle, 92 of Spencer, Indiana passed into the loving arms of his Lord and surrounded by his family at his home. Bob was born on April 30, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lottie & Kenneth Kernodle.
Bob and his wife Shirley raised their family in Decatur Township and retired from Bryant Heating and Cooling in 1984 and then moved to their current home in Spencer, Indiana in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Kernodle, his parents, his two sisters, Mary Parham and Hazel Stegelvik, and two infant children.
Surviving to celebrate his life are his four daughters Linda (George) James, Paula (Terry) Bennett, Karla Ingram and Norma (Steve) Ream; and his son Robert Kernodle II. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren
Bob enjoyed visits to the casinos, playing in a Thursday night local euchre group, assembling jigsaw puzzles, making wooden craft items in his garage shop, every kind of automobile race; and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a member of the Shiloh Wesley Methodist Church and the Masonic Order.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII, and a participant in a Washington DC Honor Flight.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, October, 1, 2019 at the Shiloh Wesley Methodist Church with Dr. Diane Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Diane Wells for lovingly caring for our father over the years: and to his wonderful friend, Jerry who was so kind to him.
