Rosalee Johnson, 79, of Spencer, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Rosie departed on the journey to the house of the Lord while surrounded by family, knowing they'll be reunited in time. Rosie was born on September 9, 1939 in Bowling Green, IN. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Floyd Allen and Ruth Marie Addy.
On September 7, 1957 she married the love of her life Lawrence Johnson. Rosie and Lawrence remained at each others side for nearly sixty-two years. They had two children, Glen and Cheryl.
Rosie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, reading and crocheting, but her true passion was family and friends.
Rosie is survived by her husband, Lawrence; son, Glen Johnson (Barbara); daughter Cheryl Gafken (Steve); sister, Debbie Townsend (Terry); two sister-in-laws, Ruth Johnson and Glenda Query (Leland); brother-in-law, Leon Johnson (Carla); two granddaughters, Lauren Williamson (Bud) and Jennifer Parks; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Parks, Kaleb Parks, McKenzie Parks, Jisela Garcia and Jaselyn Garcia including their father Jorge Garcia; and several nieces and nephews.
Among the family and friends who waited to greet her on her journey home are her parents Floyd and Ruth, and sister Wanda Haviland.
Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer, IN with Pastor Dr. Diane Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday and 10 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
